Nope.  Offense is progressing, other things need addressing, so a HC not calling plays is welcomed.  Formations, substitutions, game management, all should get better.  I hope.

Anything that might help out is welcome. There's a lot happening around an NFL team. Spreading the "load" around can't hurt. Of course, decisions being what they are, there is now more opportunity to spread the blame around as well.

I feel it's just letting the OC do his job. If I were an Offensive (or Defensive) Coordinator and the Head Football Coach was doing my job for me, I might ask what the hell I'm doing here and how long before they figure I'm not needed.

This is an interesting question......(Play-calling in the NFL..).

I did a little research, although not too much "depth". What I found was that as many as 20+ NFL Head Coaches call plays. Some of them call "Defensive" plays, some of them call "Offensive" plays. Of the 20+ (approx..) Head coaches involved, some of them are "part-time" play callers and some of them call 100% of the plays. My last count showed 8-10 Head Coaches were "full-time" Offensive play-callers. (The actual number depends on who you choose to believe..).

So..... Frank Reich is (was..??) certainly not the 'Lone Ranger' in the NFL. As a matter of fact, the HCs who DO call the Offensive plays are a bunch of extremely successful Head Coaches (generally speaking..).

I'm not sure what any of this means, but there you are.......   Bag

Actually if you think about it, or maybe I should see they way I see it… it’s has been a very good and well thought out plan. Brown has never been a play caller in the nfl, last time he called plays was back in 2018 as a college OC. In fact, the best I could tell his prior NFL experience hasn’t dictated that he be prepared for such, even in an emergency situation. I like apprenticeships… by once again what do I know. Go Panthers, hold it together today and let’s not put another L on the board.

As I said up ^^^ there, somewhere. OCs do NOT have to be the play-caller. Lots of HCs call plays. It might be a little bit of an anomaly, but it's not at all unusual.....
