RE: QB talk - Firstchance - 03-08-2023

A lot can and will change once Garappolo signs, especially if it is Houston.

That would be very interesting in deed.  But I still think Houston takes a QB

Article from Pantherswire is that Carolina is not interested in Richardson due to him not having a veteran to sit behind. Basically due to the fact that he’s not a day 1 starter. According to the article, we’re only interested in Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, and Will Levis.

I read this yesterday and I wonder.....

BCF.... Do you think the Panthers would actually go into the season without a qualified veteran to lead the way..???  In other words, actually PLAN ON starting an untested rookie on Day 1 ??  Or would we consider PJ Walker or Jacob Eason enough veteran presence.??

Seems like an awfully big gamble IMO.

I see them getting a veteran, just none of the big names. We don’t have the cap space to sign one.

Unless they cut serious space, adding a veteran QB who only makes 20m a year is still a tough ask as it stands. So right now, none of us know, but :AS IT STANDS: there’s no veteran I see us getting that’s going to be what we need. And fwiw, Jacob Eason is no true veteran. He’s been primarily a PS player. I don’t even see us keeping him past training camp.

Actually, I saw several articles this morning where rumors were "leaked" that several teams were shocked at "how far behind" Richardson is in his football knowledge during the Combine.  I know watching a video of him the other day with Baldy, he had zero idea what a "West Coast Offense" was and had trouble explaining other schemes and protections.

I agree...
I think it's safe to say that most of us believe Richardson is a year away from effective QB play in the NFL. He has the physical traits, but not the KSAs. It will take awhile for him to get up to speed.  He is going to be surprised at the way the NFL guys play the game.

To add to your second question, Yes.  I believe they’ll start a rookie week 1.

Also, PJ is a free agent, so…. Yeah.. not him.

Hmmm... Yes, PJ is a FA, but a restricted rights FA. So the Panthers have a right of first refusal. COULD keep him... Not saying they will.

Rookie--Veteran

Veteran--Rookie

QB draft. - Hobbit99 - 03-12-2023

Hmmm..I've seen two different "polls" in the last couple of days, asking to 'rank' the possible QB draft.  Will Levis is outrunning the others by a LARGE margin. Last one I saw showed fans going for Levis at 62%. Stroud was getting about 31%. The other options were just a few points each, with Young in the #3 spot and Richardson dragging hind....

Doesn't mean anything, I realize..... Still, it's interesting what folks are thinking.
