Tom Brady can objectively say he's replacing the best in the business.

Greg Olsen, whom Brady is replacing as Fox Sports' top NFL color commentator next season, took home the Sports Emmy for outstanding personality, event analyst on Tuesday despite his impending demotion. Olsen is expected to join Fox's No. 2 team with Joe Davis after two years with Kevin Burkhardt on the top team.

In one of the more awkward posts you'll see from a sports media public relations account, Fox "proudly" congratulated Olsen on the honor.

Olsen beat fellow nominees Troy Aikman, Cris Collinsworth, Bill Raftery, John Smoltz and Tom Verducci. It is the second Emmy of his career, after winning outstanding personality — emerging on-air talent last year.

Congrats to Greg...well deserved.   Worship

What is not deserved is your $7mil pay cut and your demotion.

This is Greg's 2nd Emmy.   He won the Emmy last year as well in the same category - Outstanding Personality, Event Analyst. Last year he won as "Emerging On-Air Talent", (sort of a sub-category for new analysts). This year, he's recognized as the top "Event Analyst" overall.  I absolutely LOVE this.  No one is more deserving.

Greg Olsen is smooth and clean on-air, doesn't stumble, always ready with information and perfect timing.  Every time I watch him I'm amazed at how well (and quickly..) he has developed as a broadcasting personality. It's hard to imagine anyone being any better at this than Greg is.

Greg Olsen may be listed as the No. 2, but his ambitions are still firmly set on being No. 1.

The Carolina Panthers legend, fresh off his second consecutive Sports Emmys win, appeared on the Front Office Sports Today podcast with Owen Poindexter on Thursday. Poindexter asked Olsen about his reassignment from FOX’s top broadcast team to their second, due to the arrival of seven-time Super Bowl champion and three-time MVP Tom Brady.

“My goal is to be the best,” Olsen said. “I want our crew to be seen as the best, and it’s not just about me—it’s about my partner, our sideline analyst, our production team, our truck, our producer, our director, and everyone involved. I’m very passionate and competitive about this. When I was part of the No. 2 crew before, I always aimed to be No. 1.”

“My aspirations remain to be a No. 1 analyst, whether at FOX or elsewhere,” Olsen added. “That will never change as long as I’m in this field. I’m not just content with being here; I want the top position. I’ll always strive for that, and I feel more motivated now than ever.”

AGREED...

Actually, I think he is already the best. I watch all of the networks and Greg is VERY polished. Never stumbles. Always ready with the pertinent information.  He really is VERY good.
