Dan Morgan - Ladypanther - 10-30-2024

On another forum...which I was an active participant in for years ( for several reasons, I no longer post there.  I occasionally lurk to see what they are saying)...Dan is getting roasted.  Their last talking point is
the Johnson trade.

I am not there.  I want to see more of what Dan does.  He inherited an awful team and situation.  Many say because he was the asst GM he is just as responsible as Fitterer.  We do not know that, He is approaching things differently.  He told us this would take time. No-one wanted to believe that.

He has to clean up the mess first. He has shown that he is willing to make rational decisions rather than emotional/popular ones.  Burns wanted to be paid more than his  play said he was worth.  Gone.  Donte became a cancer...and was not going to be here next year anyway...gone. (Message sent...we want team players...got to build that culture for young players)

When you are the worst team in the league...you cannot expect to win anything...games, trades.  He got what he could. Addition by subtraction is a thing.

His first draft was a looking to the future draft.

I will be very interested to see his next draft.

Tepper has to show some patience with Morgan and Canales.  I want to give them some time too.  I am still believing Dan can build something here.  Building from the ground up does not look pretty but it is important. We need a good foundation.  I think Dan can do it. And my usual...Tepper needs to stay out of the way.

Not sure who this group this but that trade was a complete waste. Too many times looking for a Wr to make a trade to maybe might move you up a net ten places, heck the ravens could win it all and we have the worst record and I gain one slot. It was a poor deal and even poorer if we paid part of his salary (not sure about this rumor)..: it wasn’t a bad deal it wa horrible deal.

I agree he did inherit a bad team and a bad situation but you have to make moves that reverse that course and Dan simply has not done it. Made stupid moves in the draft, brought in guys who can’t it couldn’t even be back ups, gave away Burns and now this Johnson trade.

clean up the mess yes however not continue to add to it or worse yet make it more more obvious that he is going in the wrong direction.

not about winnin, this year or even next year… it’s about making you football better and by putting your football team in a better position::: he has done neither.

His first draft was a looking to the future draft.

not sure seem to be too many wastes, too many lives up to get players that most likely would have been available at our normal
positions or even later… plus he didn’t draft best available and that is a major reason we have next to zero depth.

I will be very interested to see his next draftee

me As well but it really would surpris le me to see someone else. Dan has sucked.

dan is the one responsible for building that foundation. He has yet to lay the first brick.  I hope he lays them soon or Tepper will be right to go in another direction.  And I have never said that.

RE: Dan Morgan - OceanPanther - 10-31-2024

The Johnson trade has many speculating that he did it too early and not getting more for it. With that said, we don't know what the other offers were and I heard two other teams were interested. So I think it's safe to say those two other teams were not offering more than the Ravens , but less. We saw what Jets gave up for Devante Adams, a 6 time pro bowler , a 3rd round pick. So probably. Deonte Johnson wasn't worth what some think he is worth.

My beef was that Dan didn't give it another week.

I liked what Dan did to help build an offensive line, and Jadeveon Clowney really hasn't worked out well to replace Brian Burns. I'm hearing rumblings of how Ejiro Evero is not doing a good job etc... we'll stripping him of linebackers and defensive ends can make many coordinators look worse ( Losing Derrick Brown didn't help, and hurt a lot )

I want Dan to succeed really bad. He need another couple of years, ( Like Canales ) to see if there is progress. Next off season is huge for Dan. We can't afford 2 more bad years to build. We need to see signs of improvement .

RE: Dan Morgan - BlackCatzFan - 10-31-2024

Clowney was never going to work anyway. Dude is a #1 pick whose only consistency is being a 3rd or 4th round rotational player everywhere he has been. Don’t get me wrong, I think it was still the right move for what was available, but we are HURTING in a lot of positions. A LOT. I wasn’t ever optimistic about our Defense not being truly addressed. We lost 5/11 STARTERS. Our stats last year were skewed because we always started in our red zone and punted to the 40 yard line. Our yards allowed were so low because no one had to really move the ball.

sorry but I don’t think the Adams trade is even remotely in the ballpark to use as a comparison. The man has 70 million owed to him and he wasn’t going to play another down with the Raiders and they still got a third rounder… they raped the jets. Where as Johnson is on an expiring contract… we got raped. To move up just so many space. Heck if the ravens win it all it might just be one single spot. Morgan simply got used. He has not a bonafide move that has stood out in our favor since taking the job.

Getting a second this draft was nice trade last draft.

What did he give up to get that second? Yes, nice to have but the devil is in the details.

We are also sporting a decent draft class.  Minus Brooks n Crumedy, all are contributing.  Even Barrett (7th) traded for Jackson has been a plus!

Hopelessly optimistic.  We hit next draft like this one?  Hope for it. We need draft classes, plural, to fix our roster.  2-3 years.  In year 1, we seemed to hit mostly.  I hope year two draft is the same.  Tough, smart, n fat. If ure tall/big it’s a plus.
