QUESTIONS, STATEMENTS, & OTHER THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO - Hmm? - Hobbit99 - 03-13-2025
Started thinking about some conundrums recently, and how they sometimes appear to be a little 'mixed up' or 'backwards'. Words in common usage whose definition seems strange considering the word itself. Strange situations where conventional usage seems like it should be wrong.... maybe someone made a mistake.?
So many different possibilities.!!!
*** If "The early bird gets the worm", why do "Good things come to those who wait.?"
*** Have you ever considered that the fork you use in a restaurant has probably been in thousands of other people's mouths??
*** Why do you never see baby pigeons??
*** If a male sheep is called a 'ram', why is a 'ram in the butt' called a goose??
*** What do we call 'sunshine' when it's cloudy?? Does it even exist when it's cloudy??
*** If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it ... Does it make a noise??

***Why is it called a building, it it's already built?
***If Cinderella's shoe fit perfectly, why did it fall off.?
***Can you ever be truly prepared for an unexpected event?
***Is the glass half full, half empty, or just twice as big as needed?
(It doesn't matter if it's half-full or half-empty -- The point is, it's refillable.!!)

...If you describe something as "indescribable", haven't you already described it?
...Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called "Rush hour"?
...If you get out of the shower clean, why is the towel you used dirty?

How does a sponge hold water when it's fall of holes?
If you're not supposed to eat at night, why is there a light in the fridge?
Do stairs go up, or down?
If a fly loses it's wings, is it now called a "walk"?
Why does quicksand work so slowly?
Why do we call it a hamburger when it's made of beef?
If you drop soap on the floor, is the soap dirty or is the floor clean?
