Day 3 QB's - Ladypanther - 02-28-2026 I have seen talk about a lot of other positions...not QB. Day 3 hard to predict but would like some thoughts about who looks interesting. The Panthers could be down to 1 QB soon. Even if Dalton is here I think he is done. Does not seem like free agency offers much but I would think we would add a vet and draft one. What you guys think? RE: Day 3 QB's - Josh21 - 02-28-2026 We need a better b/u, but I don’t know where to go, so sorry no solution. Here is a four year player from North Dakota State. He elected to stay at NDSU and forego the transfer portal. He says it was because of the historical QB play from NDSU. He joins four or five recent QBs from NDSU who have made the jump to the NFL. Names include - Brock jensen (2014); Carson Wentz (2016); Trey Lance (2021); and Cam Miller (2025). Playing behind Trey Lance and Cam Miller gave him less chances on the field, but he made up for it as a senior.. He's a proto-typical NFL QB size (6-3, 235) and is well know for throwing deep. His completion percentage is over 70% and he is F A S T for a QB. GREAT runner and is not afraid to stand in the pocket. Projected as a "Day 3", his draft stock is rising because of the Senior Bowl and his Combine showing. Downsides..?? Well, current talk says he doesn't have the technique to "drive" the ball into tight windows and only one year of FCS experience as a starter. OH - ONE MORE THING --- He's left-handed..!! He reminds me of a Taysom Hill except with a better arm and a fearless attitude. RE: Day 3 QB's - Hobbit99 - 03-01-2026 RE: Day 3 QB's - PantherFan007 - 03-01-2026 I heard from the "rumor mill" yesterday that several teams had contacted the Panthers at the Combine this week to inquire about Andy Dalton. In my opinion, Andy deserves one last "Hurrah!" if he can get it, and it would not be a bad thing for Bryce Young to have some new (serious) competition knocking on his door. Just please, please, PLEASE don't draft any more quarterbacks that are just "ho-hum" and waste a draft pick. If they want to do that, they might as well do something in free-agency or with an undrafted quarterback after the draft. And to be honest, the draft (especially when it comes to quarterbacks) is a crap-shoot. It's like rolling the dice. "Pretty perfume and pretty dresses don't always a pretty princess make". (Book of Dewayne, 21:12) If a guy doesn't have real "starting this or next year potential", don't waste a draft pick on him. I'm not saying a late rounder won't be any good, I'm telling our scouting staff to stop taking quaaludes when they're scouting these guys lol RE: Day 3 QB's - Hobbit99 - 03-01-2026 Here is a blurb about his Combine performance. Dude is fast and showed off his strengths. Hard to say what the league will think....?? Cole Payton at the Combine Quote:North Dakota State quarterback Cole Payton has emerged as one of the most-hyped signal callers in the NFL Draft this year, and his combine performance on Saturday backed it up. Here is a little more about Cole Payton... I suspect Andy might leave, especially this year with a lot of QBs looking to be replaced league-wide. There will be a bit of QB 'musical chairs' happening, I think. For anyone who cares --- The average career in the NFL is about 3 1/2 years. QBs are little longer, averaging a little over 5 years. The problem with only drafting a QB who will "...start this or next year" is that means a draft position in round 1, or possibly 2-3 depending on the number and quality of QBs coming out each year. NOW, for me, I don't believe the Panthers will draft a QB this year in rounds 1-3. Remember... league-wide, 32 teams drafting seven rounds, 224 draftees, plus UDFAs with the average career life of 3.3 years. ![]() Is there any wonder why teams draft QBs (and others) late in the draft hoping to catch "lightning in a bottle".?? The only option for any team that is not drafting early, 1-15 maybe (??), is to find a vet who has 'beat the odds' or draft a QB with "potential" later in the draft. The only options are: Find a vet who wants to play; Pick up some teams "cast-off"; or Draft a QB late in the draft - AND HOPE.!! I think -- The Panthers might do both, as LP suggested. Find a vet on a one year deal AND draft one late. I don't believe the Panthers will be drafting a "start this year or next" QB (Rds 1-3) -- So, where does that leave us..????
RE: Day 3 QB's - Firstchance - 03-22-2026 Haynes King in three years will be recognized as the best qb from this draft. Think the later can be fixed? Otherwise a good 3rd down short yardage QB. Saw at least one GaTech game....he is tough. |
