COLIN COWHERD ON THE SAM DARNOLD TRADE - PantherFan007 - 04-14-2021

This is worth watching and listening to.  Colin Cowherd tells it like it is, and gives us all much to be excited about in Sam Darnold.

Remember, Drew Brees was let walk from the Chargers because he wasn't thought to be worth keeping.  In his third season after being drafted by the Chargers, they drafted Philip Rivers as their future quarterback. But, the Saints took a chance on Brees and we see how that turned out for them.

I'm not saying Sam Darnold is going to be as good as Drew Brees, we simply do not know.  But I do know that "it happens". ;)

I'm guilty as charged of writing him off because of the Jets.

The more I look at him, though, the more I like this. I hated the idea of starting over with a rookie QB. Almost automatically would put us a couple years from contention at least. But we get a QB that's the age of a rookie, but with those first awkward years behind him. I still think there will be growing pains because of the move to a new team, but looks like a ton of possible potential.

I had previously thought of this as a sideways move; that he was basically the same as Bridgewater. But I think now that it's an immediate (slight) upgrade with a possibly spectacular upside down the road.

And remember what Jake Delhomme was able to accomplish on a new team which was pretty young at the time :)

And the bad thing for Teddy Bridgewater is that Sam Darnold already beat him out of a starting job once before while at the Jets :(
