Listening to the presser Hobbit recently posted I thought Canales looks very happy and sounds so positive.

He reminds me of Pete Carroll and maybe to some degree Sean McVay.  Any others you can think of?

Then I thought I would look into Carroll's coaching tree.....which I have never heard much about.  He has had many assistants go on to move up to other jobs in the NFL and a lot that have been successful as assistance or HC in college.

Here is his NFL head coaching tree:

Gus Bradley
Dan Quinn
Robert Saleh
Lane Kiffin

and now
Dave Cananles.

Not the most impressive list but hopefully Canales can make that list look better.

Could be a lot worse, that’s for sure. !!!! I’ve always admired (sort of..) what Pete Carroll accomplished in Seattle. Canales’ exposure to Carroll can only help. No matter how he approaches the job, or who he mimics, his success will be judged (at least initially) by what he accomplishes here in Carolina. Would love to see a HC stick around for eight or ten years.
