He’s the 3rd most accurate k in NFL history.  Didn’t say, but I guess he’d like more $.  He deserves it.

LOL..  Tongue Tongue

I know you must have meant Eddie Pineiro, not Gonzales

Anyway, I agree with you. Pineiro is a VERY accurate kicker. Always has been.  I'm not sure about his current contract, but I know he's not being paid like a top kicker. Maybe that's by design. Maybe the business side doesn't believe a kicker should be paid. If Eddie could add another 5-7 yards of effective distance, I don't think anyone would argue with paying him. He's just a smaller guy and doesn't have the leg strength to kick from 55+ yds. If he could hit a couple from 58-60, it would eliminate most of the doubters.

He has not had a pressure kick while here...Atlanta 2 yrs ago kind of was and he missed it. That is the unknown about him for me...and a couple of injuries.  Sounds like he is kind of being a jerk to the rookie in his short appearance in Charlotte.  I won't be mad of the rookie beats him out.  I think attitude will not help him with Dan and Dave. Has he noticed his buddy Tabor is not here?  He has to prove it with the new guys.  Not acting like it.

He had two game winning kicks last year, our only wins FWIW.

Hmmm... Don't know LP...

I haven't tried to look up all of his kicks, so you could be right. However, there is one thing I am certain about.  I want the BEST kicker on the field. It's all about success and percentages. If the rookie lights it up and out-kicks Pineiro, then he deserves to be on the field. By the same reasoning, trading a 90% FG kicker for a 75-80% kicker makes NO sense at all.  For me, it's about the team and potential for success, whatever that looks like. I've heard you say similar things also....about team success. I agreed with you then, and I still do. Everything is about the on-field performance metrics. Nothing else matters....

Of course, there is the matter of salary also. Rookie salary versus veteran salary. Play that off against the difference in kick success and then order the priorities.

I'm not certain where that leaves us. But as we are constantly being told..... "The NFL is a business." Whatever we do has to make sense for the team.
