According to Mike Kaye (The Charlotte Observer) the Panthers are visiting with TWO FA Safeties. As previously mentioned, one of them is Julian Blackmon. The other is Marcus Williams.

Blackmon is from the Indianapolis Colts. Williams has three more years experience. His time has been spent with the Saints and the Ravens.

PANTHERS WIRE:  Panthers Hosting TWO FA Safeties

According to Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer, the team is hosting safeties Julian Blackmon and Marcus Williams on free-agent visits today.

Blackmon, a third-round pick of the Indianapolis Cols from 2020, has played five NFL seasons. The 26-year-old has amassed 300 combined tackles, 10 interceptions, 21 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries over 66 games.

Williams, a 2017 second-round selection by the New Orleans Saints, is set to enter his ninth pro campaign in 2025. The 28-year-old has split his career between the Saints and the Baltimore Ravens—totaling 469 tackles, 20 interceptions, 56 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

Carolina, who entered free agency with just one safety on their roster, has inked former Las Vegas Raider Tre'von Moehrig to a three-year, $51 million deal.

They also brought back veteran Nick Scott, who spent the 2024 season with the team, on Saturday."

I posted a thread about Blackmon the other day.  He's a pretty decent Safety.

Yes... I mentioned that. I guess I should have linked that here.

Looking at the two of them, to my 'inexperienced' way of thinking, it appears as if Williams is the better Safety. They're only two years different in age. Williams has played three more years (8 years to Blackmon's 5). Williams has doubled the number of INTs, more than doubled the number of passes defensed, and more than 50% more tackles.

They're both 'solid' guys though. I guess it would come down to who wants to play, and "fit".  OH.... and money.!!
