Well, there's news. It should be expected, but happened earlier than expected.
Panthers Make Big Change In Quarterback Depth Chart Thursday (msn.com)
Bryce Young opened up Thursday's OTA practice as quarterback for the first-team offense.
In all practice sessions prior to today, the No. 1 overall pick had been working with the second team behind veteran QB Andy Dalton.
While this is his first time opening up practice with the first team, Young has taken plenty of snaps with the Panthers' No. 1 unit so far this offseason. Obviously when the organization selected him with the first pick in this year's draft, they expected him to start at some point during the 2023 season — if not Week 1.
The Panthers finish their offseason program with a minicamp next week. After that, it'll be interesting to see where Young slots into the team's practice plans during training camp.
After their three-game preseason schedule in August, Young and the Panthers will kickoff their 2023 season with a Week 1 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons on Sep. 10.
