Really great at everything.  Remembered him as an announcer.  Kornheiser n Wilbon hit it on the head on PTI.

I remember Bill Walton more as a player.  He was a "force" while at UCLA in the early '70s.  He arrived on the scene there shortly after Lew Alcindor left. Alcindor, better known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar after he changed his name, was one of the first 'big men' to reach "star" status. Those two along with Wilt Chamberlain set a very high bar in college and in the NBA.

Of course, there were a lot of other stars in the league as well.....

Trivia Fact:  Wilt Chamberlain still holds the single game scoring record in the NBA.. He was playing for the Philadelphia Warriors at the time. Not sure who he was playing against, but it was in the early 1960s (I think..?)  Scored 100 points in one game by himself.

Bill Walton was another one of the true stars in the game.

RIP - Bill Walton
