GO PANTHERS!

Make the most of it, but make the BEST of it while you're at it!

You know, the closer we got to the Draft, the less I wanted us to pick him.  I wasn't surprised to see him slide down the list a bit.  A couple of months ago, he was being heralded as the #2 pick overall.

I have a question. Does anyone, think that Jaycee Horn was the best player available #1 or did he address or most immediate need(s).

Coach Rhule and Fitterer said he was the top player on THEIR board, but I don't think he was the BEST player available at the moment.  I think he did, however, fit a HUGE need in our secondary.  This kid is a beast on the field:

Notable performances by Panthers’ new CB Jaycee Horn against top talent and what he held them to:

Jaylen Waddle 1/1, 12 yards

Jerry Jeudy 1/1, 7 yards

Justyn Ross 2/4, 14 yards

Kyle Pitts 1/3, 20 yards

Seth Williams 1/9, 44 yards, 2 INTs

Elijah Moore 7/10, 47 yards (2 games)

You know I saw those “stats” posted in Facebook and I always like to do my research, not that mine is even always correct, and I am curious. Last year I don’t think SC even played Bama? They did play Florida but why would Horn by covering Pitts? Seems to me he would have had Toney, their #1 wideout but regardless of his assignment, Pitts had 4 catches for 57 yards a d 2 TD’s, Toney had 6 catches for 86 yards and 1 TD. Maybe there are stats out there that show his individual numbers against whomever on every single down...if so, I would like to review those results.

By no means am I saying Horn is not a good player, I think he is. However, he and a few others were back of the first round selections, not top of the crop selections. You could have easily traded back, picked up another pick or maybe even two and still selected him.... easily, that is where it make absolute zero sense to me.

If that's the case, my other post is wrong. I just saw draft rankings that seem to make your point.
