***Austin Corbett -&- Xavier Woods ---- INCOMING***

As the start of the OFFICIAL FA Period and the new league year loom closer, The Panthers appear to be making some headway against roster spots. While nothing is "official" until after 4:00 PM on Wednesday, The "Tampering Period" allows teams to talk with agents (NOT players..) ahead of the "official" date/time. A lot of deals are done during these first two days. The Panthers appear to have "agreed" (at least in principle..) to terms that will bring both Austin Corbett and Xavier Woods to Carolina.
Corbett is a FA Guard from the Rams who started all 17 games last year (1087 snaps..) with only two penalties and three sacks allowed.
Xavier Woods is a FA Safety from the Vikings. Originally a 6th round pick by the Cowboys in 2017, he played for the Vikings last year before becoming a FA. His new contract here is supposed to be for 3 yrs and 15.75 Mil.

Nothing is Official, but expect both of these to happen. The Panthers have mentioned both of these guys on their website as being "pursued".

AP Sources: Panthers Agree To Terms With Corbett, Woods
March 15, 2022
Brittney Melton, AP

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms on a three-year, $29.25 million contract with Los Angeles Rams guard Austin Corbett and a three-year, $15.75 million contract with Minnesota Vikings safety Xavier Woods.

That’s according to people familiar with the situation who spoke to The Associated Press condition of anonymity because the deals won’t become official until Wednesday.

Corbett should help a weak offensive line that surrendered the fifth-most sacks in the NFL last year.

He started all 33 games over the past two seasons for the Super Bowl champion Rams.

Woods is coming off the best season of his five-year career.

Yes... I suspect you are correct.
You don't get that much smoke without fire. Actually, I rather like Corbett. Not sure about Woods, but we'll see. Woods contract is for about 15 Mil. over three years. If I remember what I read correctly, Corbett is also three years, but about 30 Mil. That's 10 Mil per year. He BETTER be good.!!

These are the guys I am the most pleased about so far. Austin Corbett has proven himself to be a 1st level O-Lineman. His time with the Rams was very solid, ending with playing and protecting Matt Stafford in the Super Bowl. He should definitely add a lot of quality to our O-line. Along with Moton, Christensen, Elflein, Dennis Daley, and Brown, we have a start for a competitive O-line.

Of course we also have a couple of other guys as well......... We have Tecklenburg who is a Center, and we still have Cameron Erving too. There are several other younger guys on the roster as well who could (might..) show up to play. If we can draft one or two guys with potential, we should be on the right track.
