The Injury Report today is sort of a misnomer. It had to be filed (league rules..) but it means little because of the X-short week of practice. Practice this week starts on Monday instead of Wednesday. It's just a light jog-thru and workout to get limbered up. Then there will be a practice tomorrow and another on Wednesday (of some sort..), before the Thursday night game.

There are four players listed as DNP, even though it means little this early in the week. The one notable "injury" that continues to be worrisome is Justin Burris. Burris had his bell rung a couple of weeks back and is still fighting off the effects of a concussion. Hanging on this long without even basic clearance to workout is troubling. Light workouts start the comeback process, followed by practices and then full clearance. It seems like he is still some time away from clearance. Interestingly. we have four more guys listed as "Illness" this week. This is USUALLY indicative of a COVID positive test. We will know more tomorrow before/after practice what the playing field may look like on Thursday.

Justin Burris  --------------  Concussion ------------  DNP
Rashard Higgins  ---------  Illness  ------------------  DNP
Laviska Shenault  --------  Illness  ------------------  DNP
Matt Ioannidis  -----------  Back --------------------  DNP
Chuba Hubbard  ---------  Ankle  -------------------  LP
Frankie Luvu  ------------  Neck  --------------------  LP
Derrick Brown  ----------  Illness  -------------------  LP
Brian Burns  -------------  Shoulder  ----------------  LP
Donte Jackson  ---------  Ankle  --------------------  FP
Stephen Sullivan  -------  Illness  -------------------  FP
CJ Henderson  ----------  Finger  -------------------  FP
Giovanni Ricci  ----------- Neck  --------------------  FP

So, it's Tuesday on a short week...... As we prepare this week to meet the Falcons again, on short rest, injuries continue to baffle and add a certain amount of mystic aberration to this weeks preparation.  Only Burris and Higgins did not practice today, with Ioannidis improving to LP (Limited..). On the down side, Taylor Moton was added to the report today with an elbow affliction and was also listed as LP.  Everyone else from the report on Monday improved and was listed as FP (Full Practice).

Justin Burris continues to struggle with his concussion. As time drags on, it is becoming more worrisome. Burris was a valuable part of our D backfield. The Panthers will move forward, but missing Burris makes us weaker on defense.  I hope he recovers quickly and completely.....

The final Injury Report for the week arrives on Wednesday, which is the normal first day of practice each week. This week, of course, is different because the Panthers play their one and only "Prime Time" game on Thursday evening.

The report looks sort of encouraging, considering the number of players listed. There are two guys who are definitely "OUT" this week. Justin Burris is still recovering from a concussion, and Rashard Higgins is out with an "Illness" (probably COVID related). There are four guys shown as "Questionable" including Taylor Moton and Matt Ioannidis who have been very reliable. The other two, Chuba Hubbard and Donte jackson have been hurt for awhile. Hubbard is making his return to 'active' status this week and Jackson will return after sitting out last week. Jackson was active last week, but didn't play, hoping his ankle would benefit from the extra rest..  It is not certain that either one of them will play this week, but they have not been ruled out.

Now, when they say Dante Jackson is “questionable” do they mean his status, or his cover ability…………?

Ok, who’s better, 3 choices. CJ, Donte, or Taylor Jr? I like em all.

Agreed...

CJ is coming on and will continue to get better (hopefully).  Taylor, I'm not as high on, but he usually does okay.  Donte is the most polarizing of the bunch. I've watched him from the beginning and he can be impressive. He has been playing continuously on a bad ankle and has been hobbled because of it. That's not an excuse, it's just fact.  Jackson has also been our most productive CB with INTs. Lately he's been on and off the field and in and out of the "tent". He goes in gets his ankle "frozen" or "cold packed" then REwrapped and he's back to continue playing. You can't fault this guy for effort.

I like D Jack. Sorry, I just do.
