I want to see how many of the heads talking about Bryce Young being the "most NFL ready quarterback in this draft" that are still talking about him as the second coming.

If he has success, they will look like psychics.  If he fails, will they blame the Panthers (or WHOMEVER DRAFTS HIM) for not doing their "Due Diligence" and picking a "better quarterback" or what?

They are ALL quick to bask in their correct guesses and offer praise when a team does something even remotely close to what they said.  But let something go wrong and they are as silent as ........................ zzzzzzz

Crickets.......(Although crickets really aren't silent, are they.??)

To be fair, there are a lot of one and done first round picks who were “future Hall of famers” and “generational talents”

They’ve missed more than they hit.

Absolutely correct.  The failure rate is high.  Truth told, the number of 1st round picks that UNderperform is WAY higher than the number who make a high-end statement.

There are NO guarantees.  And the more you push the boundaries of the "norm", the worse the odds become.

On another thread somewhere that I'm too tired to go looking for, I posted all #1 quarterback picks for like the last twenty or thirty years.  There were very few who had much of a career whatsoever.   Some were serviceable for a while, but yeah... not many.

When you get to where we are right now, "serviceable" may be all you can hope to achieve. We will always hope to draft a Brady, or a Brees, or one of the other (few) hotshots. But it's sort of like trying to "catch lightning in a bottle."  Once in a while you THINk you get it right, but for some reason it doesn't quite work out.

Right now, I'll take "serviceable".  And hopefully have a chance to develop into something "really good."  With the right "cast of characters" surrounding, even "serviceable" can win a Super Bowl.!!
