He's my guy. All the way back to "back in the day" at South Carolina. And I commend him on being humble and showing that he's willing to be a leader, as opposed to some who come in and act like they are too big for the team.

I LIKE this guy. He seems (sounds) like a true veteran who knows his place. No expectations of grandeur. Just a guy willing to do his part and show up every day to lead others.  I'm glad we got him.

I loved JD's remarks about setting himself as the standard and holding himself accountable before he said anything to anyone else. Traits of a natural leader and something we have desperately needed.

Well...hope he puts it all together here this season.  We need him to be a diff maker. Sorry guys...my thought is he is a bit cocky for someone who has been on 6 diff teams.

I hear what you're saying, and I don't disagree. But Clowney has always been a bit of a different cat. And the thing is, he acknowledges it. He has put his career and his abilities forward based on one-year contracts. I am not sure I understand that, but that is his 'modus operandi'. Always has been...

It's like he plays year-to-year and gets paid based on his recent accomplishments. He's NOT holding up a team for long-term guarantees and multiple hundreds of millions of dollars. If he performs, he gets paid the following year, if he doesn't, well, his value stagnates or goes down. THAT is sort of the way it should be.... IMHO.  I would prefer a multiple year contract just for the 'stability', but at least the team knows where they are and are not buried under long-term guarantees and mountains of "dead cap" money. It's sort of refreshing to see a guy who wants to get paid based on what he has done, NOT on 3,4 or 5 year "projections" where no one knows what is going to happen and the player laughs all the way to the bank while he sits around doing nothing.

I HATE long-term contracts with piles of "guaranteed" money. There is NO incentive for the player to perform..
Well, that's the view from here. Probably not a popular opinion, but oh well...!!!  Joker
