It's that time again, kids!   Big Grin

DT Mason Graham - Michigan (#1 Rated Defensive Tackle in the Draft)

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/pan...87a5&ei=10

While their record may not indicate such, the Carolina Panthers potentially have a bright future in front of them. Bryce Young turned things up in the second half of the season, playing with the confidence that made him the No.1 overall pick in 2023. Due to Young's emergence, the Panthers can put any quarterback talk on the back burner and focus on strengthening other areas of the roster.

They could look to add another young building block on defense, which is exactly what Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News did in his recent mock draft. Iyer had Carolina selecting Michigan's Mason Graham with the No.6 pick.

The Panthers need to add forces to their front, and Graham can disrupt plays in the backfield and on the inside pass rush. He can give them a powerful 1-2 punch should Derrick Brown return healthy and effective.

Graham has solidified himself as the draft's best defensive lineman. He had a career year for the Wolverines in 2024, totaling 46 tackles and 3.5 sacks. In three years at Michigan, Graham's compiled nine sacks and has developed into a monster on the interior. The Panthers would have a formidable duo in the middle of their defensive line for years to come with this move.

CBS mock has Graham going to the Jags at 5.  and then....

 Pick 8

Abdul Carter EDGE
Penn State • Jr • 6'3" / 252 lbs
Projected Team
Carolina
PROSPECT RNK
8th
POSITION RNK
2nd
Abdul Carter is a freakish athlete who moved from off-ball linebacker to edge rusher for the 2024 season. Carter is not Micah Parsons -- not yet, anyway -- but he's just scratching the surface on what he can do.

Abdul Carter is an absolute beast who could play 3/4 or 4/3 Linebacker or Defensive End.  He would seem small for a DE, but he's actually about the size of Brian Burns.  I'd consider it a home run if we got him as well.

Sounds there are a lot of good players we can get at 8.  That has been a good spot for us.

Players drafted in rounds 7-9....Horn, Derek Brown, CMC, Luke, Jordan Gross.

Also of note...Thomas Davis was at 14.  Dan Morgan was drafted at 11.

Carter is awesome. I think it's unlikely that both he and Graham are there for the Panthers at 8, but if they were, I lean towards Carter.

So ....
Hmm.... Does Carter have any real speed.?? His size is more in tune with an ILB position -- IF he has some speed and quickness. He's a little 'short' for a typical 'OLB--EDGE' guy. Most 'Edge guys are around 6'5" - 250ish... Strong and quick. Of course, the positions DO overlap some.
So, there's that...  But if I read that ^^ right, Carter was an ILB previously, only one year at EDGE.  And seeing as we NEED another ILB as well.... Well, maybe he would be better in the middle.???
Just spit-ballin here...

Good prospect though... Headbang

Some drafts only the top 4- 5 picks will be starters. I've heard that this year is very deep with number one picks being starters , and picking at 8 is good.

I think after combines,, Abdul Carter will be considered for the number 1 over all pick.
I don't think Carter will be there at 8, Nor Mason Graham

I do like Jalon Walker from Georgia. We could see him often as Ga was on TV a lot .

James Pearce Jr from Tenn . Lots of sacks.

I like the big guy at Texas, Alfred Collins , 320 lbs of prime Texas beef ,, He qualifies to be a Hog Molly ,,

The combines will have a lot to say about the final order (that and each team's in-depth research).  Teams at the top are usually QB needy so a couple of QB's, not the best players are going way too early.  I agree there is a lot of other talent out there.  Panthers should be able to get a very good player...a starter at 8.
