Good to hear you got them all humanely.

one really good thing I have heard about them is that they eat snakes...even poisonous ones.  Got to love that!

Good to know, LP.  I hadn’t heard that. I know they’re great scavengers and feast on eggs, mice, rats, lizards, and insects of all kinds. In some references they’re actually called “insectivores”. That’s a new word for me. I wasn’t aware that was an actual taxonomic designation. Anyway, they have no problem eating — well, almost anything. The first two I actually ‘held’ in cage hoping they would attract the third one. After four days I decided they needed to fend for themselves. I made several trips to the grocery just to feed them. Three whole bananas including peels, two big bunches of grapes, a bag of fresh spinach, 24 oz container of chicken livers, and gosh only knows how many apples, along with three cans of dog food and dry kibble (total for all three of them). The only thing they didn’t really scarf up was the grapes. They ate them but they didn’t prefer them.

They didn’t fight the traps or squabble at all. They waited patiently for food then when you turned around and looked at them a few minutes later the food was gone. They actually came toward you for food. Not really shy. I actually think they could be domesticated pretty easily.

So, snakes huh..?? How about that.!! I know they have great long sharp canine teeth, so I suspect they COULD eat just about anything if “IT” didn’t catch them first. They’re not really quick or fast visually, but I guess they would be as quick as they needed to be……
