I am a Rivera fan. I admit it.......
Ron did a good job here. He started from nothing and made the Panthers relevant. First time back to back NFC South champions, followed by a 3-peat. Ron was the victim of high expectations.. Reminds me a lot of the Jason Garret tenure in Dallas. Power teams, good talent, wins...but, no real movement upward thru the playoffs. Looks like it will bite Garret this year as well. (Although you can never tell what Jones is going to do...).
Anyway, i like Ron. He is a straight shooter and a terrific mentor for the young players. That, and he was very popular in the community. Sorry to see him go.
