Yep… That was a setup. They must have had some prior knowledge of this guy’s inclinations or they wouldn’t have zeroed in on him.
I’m a believer in a person’s right to have an opinion, even if it runs counter to mainstream political correctness. But when that person opts to openly express an ‘unpopular’ opinion, they need to be ready to accept criticism. Losing his job was the ultimate expression of criticism.
I am reminded of a couple of “proverbs” that speak to this very issue.
** “Be sure brain is in gear before putting mouth into motion.”
** “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
