I wonder what the guarantees are in the contract. Getting out of the contract is one thing, guaranteed money is another. Just turns into "Dead Cap"......still has to be paid, and it could impact money issues around here for several years.

I'm not sure it turns into dead money if it's done via Injury Settlement.  I was reading something on NFL.com earlier this week explaining (and think I posted a link on the forum somewhere) explaining how it all works.  If memory serves me correctly, if they release a player with an injury settlement, it is mutual, and the player becomes a Free Agent and can sign with whatever Team he wants (or who wants him).

But I am pretty sure the Panthers have a clause in his contract that if he becomes injured and cannot play according to his expected contract, they can cut him without his consent if he is on IR and cannot come back to the 53 man roster once he comes off IR.
