It's starting.....
Belichick has a 'confirmation' from a quarterback for the 2025 season. His first 'recruiting' "win" is apparently a local QB out of Kernersville East Forsythe. Bryce Baker has been the highest ranked player in the state of NC since last year. He previously "committed" to UNC but had not "signed".
***Let me say right here.... I know next to nothing about the process of "commits" and "signings" and "transfers" and "portals" and "NILs" ad infinitim.
Apparently, Bryce Baker was well-thought-of in the early recruiting cycle, but he had not "signed" because he was waiting to see who replaced Mack Brown as UNC's Head Coach. Once Belichick was named, Baker has decided to stay with UNC because of his NFL history and experience. So... Score one for UNC with their signing of Belichick.
I am not sure that this is THAT BIG of a deal though. Even though Bryce Baker was the #! recruit in the state of NC, he definitely was NOT that important nation-wide. As near as I can tell, Baker is ranked at #10 in the 2025 QB class. So, while this is a "win" for UNC, it may not be that big of a deal as far as the fortunes of UNC football is concerned. It will be interesting to see how many top high school recruits end up signing with UNC this cycle (and following years as well). Belichick could be a real "boone" for Carolina (OR a "bust"..??)
Interesting though...
