I agree BCF  although WR is my least fav....seems wrong to do it 3 years in a row.

TRUTH...

Just being situationally aware here..... I think we SHOULD take an OT first. We have coverage right now, but who knows about injuries. We lost three OL that contributed heavily and our OTs are questionable and aging. After that -- ¿Quien sabe? Considering ONLY BPA, the first pick is really up in the air. No one knows anything about the Panthers draft board - OR - who will be left at #19.

Only thing certain (I think) is Dan will take the player who he believes could help us the most (BPA) over time. Not necessarily this year, but playing 'the long game' here.

It’s not the “sexy pick” but I believe OL is the way to go, we have holes beyond next year at C and OT and G, in depth,

I've been gone for 3 weeks. Barely able for any updates.. So it looks like every position ( except long snapper ) is a possibility.

It looks like there's a real chance we take the proverbial best available player.

Also.. since most if don't think this,, we trade up to pick someone , or trade back and pick up more draft revenue. Both of these usually pisses the tribe off lol.

Good to see you OP.

The long snapper drafter has taken his 7 year plan to the corn state so we are safe there.

I would not at all be surprised by a trade...up or down.

I believe that Dan means what he says -- He may step sideways a little, but I believe that he intends to make every move a forward facing one. We will never have the advantage he has when evaluating talent. So, if (when..??) he decides to trade (up OR down) I think we have to give him the benefit of the doubt... he definitely knows a lot more about what he's doing than we do.!!

So, in a bout of self-actualization, I realized that our desire to know what is going to happen hits a wall (really, an immovable object) that stops us in our tracks -- without regard to what Maslow has to say. The problem is we observe and evaluate BPA by criteria of our own OR by where the players are 'listed' on a Big Board. We THINK we know who the "best" players are and therefore can in some way figure out what Dan is going to do. Unfortunately, the BPA has nothing to do with what 'others' think. It is solely and completely determined by what the Panthers (re: DAN) thinks. And since none of us (I assume.??) has access to the Panthers draft board, there is no way to know what the BPA is.  In a way, it's a LOT easier to guess who is going to be picked when we have a glaring need. At least then we know where Dan is looking. BPA --- I seriously have no idea where any player is located on the Panthers board - no matter where the consensus says they should be. It's a real quandary. Only Dan (and a select few other Panthers) actually KNOW which 4th round player is at the TOP of the Panthers board.!!!  --- Just kidding.!!  Tongue

And Yeah.... Trades both directions should be expected (probably).????  --  ¿Quien sabe? Huh

Yes,  Dan is the one who decides the  BPA , best player available.  I certainly wouldn't want to decide who that might be at pick 19.
I recall , back to 2012 when we picked LUUUUKE KUEEEECHLY ,,  many PANTHER fans were not happy,  We had Jon Beason ( coming off a ACL tear ) ,  and many thought others were better.  The same when we took two HOG MOLLIES ...  many felt we had more pressing needs.   Sometimes the  GM,  owner,  coaches,  get it right .  Sometimes they don't .  ( Sadly we all aren't convinced ( YET )  that Bryce was the best pick at #1 overall.   But even that is still premature judging ..
So when we take someone at 19 that no one expects..  let's try to be positive and see where it takes us...

Agreed....

It really doesn't matter what the FO does. There is always someone who believes that the choices were not the "best", or were not "smartest". A lot of times I am in that group, mostly because I just can't understand the thinking. But then I realize it's not my job .......
And yes, BY was not my choice when we drafted him. And nothing since then has changed my mind. Still, we have to make the best of the situation ... so onward we go

Good ole Bryce… will always shake my head there. It’s also weird theater they have not officially picked up gis 5th year option. Maybe they are waiting to see if he grows 4 inches and puts in 25 pounds.

¿....?  Dan SAID (last presser) that they were waiting until after the draft before doing the 5th year option.  Personally, I don't see the logic. But then again, it's not my decision to make.  So, there's that.... At this point, there's no real way to replace him - short term. Going to have to wait it out I guess. Of course, there's always the possibility that Dan takes a "flyer" on someone and they turn into another Brock Purdy (Mr. Irrelevant..??). ¿Quien sabe? - I'm just not convinced BY will ever be more than a decent backup.....
