Huh Huh Huh

I get it, they like the guy.  Nah, I don't get it.  He's been as much part of any "problem" as Sean McDermott.  And I guess it's a thing now, he is also going to continue calling Offensive plays a-la Dave Canales

Bills promote OC Joe Brady to be next head coach

After searching far and wide for their next coach, the Buffalo Bills are promoting from within.

Buffalo on Tuesday promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady as the club's next head coach, the team announced.

Brady's ascension to the top role in Western New York was first reported by NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero.

The 36-year-old Brady received a five-year contract in taking his new position, per the team.

Garafolo reports that Brady will continue to call offensive plays as head coach of the Bills.

Brady's hiring maintains continuity and familiarity between the Bills' most important asset in quarterback Josh Allen and his top-ranking coach. Brady has served as OC in Buffalo over the last two and a half seasons, rising to the job after Ken Dorsey was fired during the 2023 season. Brady's impact was almost instantly visible: He finally committed to running the ball in a more traditional style, balancing Buffalo's offense, opening the door for James Cook to break out for three-straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons and also -- perhaps crucially -- taking some of the responsibility off Allen's shoulders.

So the Bills owner fired McD on an impulse, promoted Beane and promoted Brady. Curious for sure.

Yeah, this is pretty strange. Especially because Josh Allen (and the Bills team) have become a bit of a fixture in the division. It’s really hard to fault McD here, although that ship has sailed. I wonder if he (McD) had serious words with ownership..?? Anyway Brady better perform.  Can’t hide behind the OC job now - I don’t care who is calling plays.

See?  So I'm not crazy thinking like I'm thinking (or, we both are lol Tongue )

It just makes zero sense.  Not taking anything away from Joe Brady, but Jeezes H. Peete.  Brady never impressed me a bunch when he was with the Panthers.

The whole thing just makes me believe that the firing of McDermott was done in search of some scapegoat.  McDermott fielded a fine football team the whole time he was in Buffalo.

...and they also let their QB, Allen, sit in on all the HC interviews and be part of the "decision making team."  SMH.
