Nope, won't correct you.  You are right 

Mingo../..Mongo  ----  Bingo../..Bongo.  Just a play on words I suspect.


HOWEVER:  Interestingly enough.... Mongo in Blazing Saddles was played by NFL great, Alex Karras.  CoolDance  How's that for a segue.??

Mingo in Daniel Boone was played by pop-singer Ed Ames.
