It seems a bit rude to put this thread here. But there seems to be no other place for it.......

In a touch of iconology, Sports Illustrated appears to be on the threshold of becoming irrelevant. A literal giant in the publishing world, It was THE publication I grew up reading.  Whenever and wherever there was a story to be told, this magazine was there. They led the charge into sometimes unknown territory, because that was the way it was done. They moved in circles that defied understanding. And they usually got there first, with the best. Their content was above reproach, and almost always proven to be accurate and without equal.

And now..... "Like sand through the hourglass of time...", we may be looking into a crystal ball that portends an ugly demise of an industry giant. The digital age has ushered in the advent of "snap your fingers" journalism. The most important criteria is not "accuracy" or "validity" or "candor" or "style". The truth is sacrificed on the rapier-like point of a desktop computer.  If the content does not generate a sufficient volume of 'views' or 'clicks', then it is relegated to the trash heap, taking with it a multi-generational publication..  If ever there was a representative example of 'industry anarchy', this would be it.

It feels like we are fast approaching a point of no return. Is it possible for Sports Illustrated to become a Phoenix-like apparition and rise from the ashes in a modern-day example of an ancient Greek story line?  One can but hope......

Here is the full story.....
