I wish him well. I really like Riverboat Ron, but I swear I hate to see him go to the Cowgirls.   Fbcry

Hmmm...

I'm not sure...  I am NOT saying you're wrong... However, your article does not say that Rivera was going to the Cowboys.. REALLY..!!!

After leaving the Commanders...

Quote:"No offer was immediately forthcoming for Rivera despite his experience. He took time away from the coaching side of things and worked as an analyst. He's now ready to dip his toe in the water once again, gaining interviews with the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders, and Chicago Bears, who recently hired Ben Johnson."

One analyst believes Rivera will land elsewhere.

Analyst projects Ron Rivera to land the Dallas Cowboys head coaching job

Maurice Moton from The Bleacher Report projected Rivera to be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. They've not shown any interest as yet, but he believes this fits what enigmatic owner Jerry Jones normally does with his hires despite the bravado surrounding Deion Sanders.

"The Dallas Cowboys haven't requested an interview with Ron Rivera, but he's made his rounds during the hiring cycle and could get a request from owner Jerry Jones. In Dallas, Rivera wouldn't have to worry about the quarterback position, with Dak Prescott entrenched as the starter. He could use his expertise to strengthen the Cowboys defense, which gave up the second-most points and fifth-most yards this past season. With the swirling rumors surrounding Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, Rivera would be a conservative option with low buzz. That said, the Cowboys brought in retreads with three of their last four head coaching hires: Mike McCarthy, Wade Phillips and Bill Parcells."

Yup, Agreed ...

It looks like it will be Schottenheimer.  The "official" official announcement will apparently be on Monday, Jan. 27th at the Cowboys press briefing.
All of the news outlets are quoting 'official' Cowboys sources. In particular, Cowboys Staff Writer, Patrik Walker.

The whole Mike McCarthy thing (firing) was a bit of a surprise to me. He has a very respectable record at Dallas over five years (49-35). He led the Cowgirlz to three 12-5 seasons, three playoff appearances, and two NFC East championships. "If Only..."  If only the Panthers would play like that...

Sorry (for him and his family) that he didn't get the job, but I am happy that they did not go into that quagmire of an organization that Jerry Jones has sowed.

That did not seem like a good situation for him.

THE LATEST ON RON RIVERA ---

Latest information says that Former Panthers HC Ron Rivera is stepping into a "GM-Like" position at UC Berkely. Rivera is a former player from Berkely and an alumnus. He played LB there from 1980--1983. Rivera was a 'consensus' All-American there and was named PAC-10 Defensive Player Of The Year.
Rivera is the winningest Head Coach in Panthers history and one of two (I think..??) HCs with an overall winning record with the Panthers.
