The latest information making the circuit has revealed that the Panthers are making (or are INTENDING to make) a couple of changes in this area.

According to a report by Joe Person (The Athletic), the Panthers are (intending) to replace head Strength & Conditioning Coach, Jeremy Scott. Nothing official from the Panthers as yet, but Person says the plan is to hire Minnesota Vikings, Josh Hingst in the "same role". It's unclear from the report whether Person meant the "same role" Hingst held in Minnesota or the "same role" Jeremy Scott held here.  For those who care, Josh Hingst was the "Director of Performance" at Minnesota. Hingst apparently has about sixteen (16) years experience in the NFL.

Also of note:  The Panthers are (apparently) hiring Denny Kellington, Associate Athletic Trainer, of the Buffalo Bills. Kellington is supposed to take over as the VP of Player Health and Performance for the Panthers.

Well, it's official (well, -- sort of..). The Panthers have announced the hiring of Denny Kellingham and Josh Hingst. It's still not clear EXACTLY what their roles are. According to the Panthers article, Kellingham will be in an 'oversight' position. He will have responsibility for Health and Nutrition as well as Strength and Conditioning, Athletic Training, and Sports Science.  Kellingham's position is listed as VP of Player Health and Performance.

Josh Hingst will be the Director of Performance. I am not sure exactly what that is, but....  Anyway it is what it is.

As of today, the Panthers website does not list either of these two as part of the staff. That update will be coming, I'm sure. Just judging by the title and listing of responsibilities, Kellingham will NOT be in a "hands on" position. His job is oversight (apparently..). Josh Hingst has some Strength and Conditioning background, but his job title does not indicate that to be his job here. The current Panthers website shows several Strength and Conditioning "Assistants" but no "Lead" or "Head".  Guess we'll just have to wait it out....

The team has hired former Bills associate athletic trainer Denny Kellington as the new vice president of player health and performance.

Kellington is perhaps best known for his role in saving Bills safety Damar Hamlin's life two seasons ago, when he began performing CPR on the safety while he was still on the field during a Monday Night Football game on Jan. 2, 2023.

"All the attention I've received for simply doing my job has been overwhelming," he said that spring while giving the commencement address at his alma mater, Oklahoma State. "I've said repeatedly that I am not a hero, but I will tell you what I was that day, I was ready."

Kellington will oversee the athletic training, strength and conditioning, nutrition, and sports science staff.

They also hired former Vikings strength coach Josh Hingst as their new director of performance.
