Watching the post-draft interview with Matt Rhule and Scott Fitterer, Coach Rhule stated that he wanted to build in this draft to put Sam Darnold in a better situation to win games.

One of the media asked him about that statement, then asked if that was the case, why they drafted a defensive back with our first pick.

Coach Rhule stated that he is building a "team" not one line or other, and he believes it DOES help the quarterback when you draft a defensive player because it helps the quarterback to "get the ball back".

A quarterback can't score touchdowns while he is sitting on the bench.

Drop the mic, Coach, just drop the mic.

But wouldn’t that be the case for any player? De, DT, lb, safety or even a left tackle to keep him in more series?

Of course, it would be. But, they were questioning why he didn't pick an O-lineman at #8 rather than defense.
