Panthers agree to terms with Tommy Tremble

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers had plenty of rookies to deal with, and now they all have deals.

Tight end Tommy Tremble agreed to terms on his four-year rookie contract Thursday, making him the last of their franchise-record 11 draft picks to finish the paperwork.

The 11 picks tied for the most in franchise history, alongside the inaugural 1995 draft.

Tremble was one of several additions to the tight end room this offseason, and brings something different.

The third-rounder from Notre Dame (chosen 83rd overall) can play multiple roles, which fits on a team that values positional flexibility the way they do.

The 6-foot-3, 241-pounder was mostly a blocker in college, but has the kind of versatility to play fullback and H-back, as well as contribute on special teams.

"The mentality that I have every time I step on the field is to try and be the most violent and versatile guy on the field," Tremble said. "That's something that I've also got to prove, that I can do everything on the field. Not just a good blocking game or something like that. I'm not going to be put in just one box. That's the main thing that I want to prove at that next level."

Tremble joins free agent Dan Arnold and incumbent Ian Thomas in a group which has a chance to have a bigger impact in the passing game this year, as they hope to diversify the offense in offensive coordinator Joe Brady's second year at the helm.
