Well.......

That puts an end to THAT experiment.  According to Wilks' latest press conference, Mayfield requested to be released.  Interesting.....

I think all of us could see the writing on the wall.  Mayfield was NOT the answer. It will be interesting to see where he lands. As First mentioned on the other thread, crazy opportunity if he should end up with the 49ers now that Jimmy G. is out again.

This poses an interesting scenario.....

Mayfield was released earlier today (supposedly....definitely..).  That means he hit the waiver wire at 4:30 this afternoon (I think..). Anyway there are several teams who might be "needy" enough to pick him up off the wire.  I am thinking about the TEXANS who are struggling with their no-name QB..... But they may choose not to intervene, thinking about the draft position. There is also the RAMS, who lost their #1 SB winning QB, Matthew Stafford, who is now on IR. Also, the 49ERS, who just lost Jimmy G. There are also a couple of other teams that could possibly choose to...... Huh

All of these teams MIGHT be interested. Just have to wait out the waiver time limit to see if anyone bites.....

It is of no consequence to me. Sianara, Baker. Best wishes in your future.

Opens up a roster spot. Need a qb on the ps. Just minor observations.

3 qbs has almost been enough this year at some points. I’d like a ps qb to help the depth going forward. We’ve had plenty of injuries. 3rd starter.

4th guy played (Eason)

Claimed by the Rams… I kinda feel bad for him, almost.

As I expected.... sort of.  With the current crop of NFL QBs as depleted as they are, I figured one of the three teams mentioned would jump at the opportunity.  WE know what he can do (and we know how he 'sucks' at other things..). But, truthfully, those teams in question have REAL problems. Being without a QB of ANY stature was a non-starter for them. He will finish out the year there, and then slip into oblivion (probably..??).

He has some experience. He has the competitive nature. So there is always the chance he will 'come alive' somewhere. I just don't think he can perform at a high level for long ..... anywhere. Opposing teams have now seen him play for two different teams and will soon be three. Defenses are figuring out that pressure and 'hands high' quickly shuts down his throwing, leaving him with 'some mobility', but that just isn't enough. He's not built (either physically or mentally) to be a long-term #1 QB.

Baker looked pretty decent last night. Like I’ve said mostly all along, our problem is coaching. Ben McAdoo does NOT need to be here next year.
