First Taste
All that waiting and the first game is over, was it worth the wait? Was it worth all that time you spent searching and seeking out every tiny little scrap of information about your new players, just to see if you can conjure up some kind of prediction of how good your team is gonna be?
It was if your a Panther fan!
The Carolina Panthers took little time answering the questions of how good they could be this season when their starting defense put the heat on Bill’s starting QB Kelly Holcomb on the first series, forcing a three and out that was punctuated by Julius Peppers with a spectacular sack on third down.
Jake Delhomme put questions to rest about his options at receiver (other than Smith) when he had Buffalo’s defensive backs spinning in both directions. Hitting four straight passes to Johnson and Colbert (twice each) before he pierced the defenses hart with a touchdown pass to Carter two plays later.
So the Panthers show their dominance on both offense and defense in each ones first drive, the offense holstered some of their weapons after that but the defense played a little longer.
Long enough anyway, to shatter any thought the Bills had of running the ball and to add some points on the board themselfs with a child’s play pick-six by Ken Lucas, to put the Panthers up by fourteen points.
The Carolina Panthers have shown they are the same team that finished the season strong in Atlanta last season, when they start the regular season in September, they could be so much better than that it would be scary to try and say....
Go Panthers!
