First Taste

All that waiting and the first game is over, was it worth the wait? Was it worth all that time you spent searching and seeking out every tiny little scrap of information about your new players, just to see if you can conjure up some kind of prediction of how good your team is gonna be?

It was if your a Panther fan!

The Carolina Panthers took little time answering the questions of how good they could be this season when their starting defense put the heat on Bill’s starting QB Kelly Holcomb on the first series, forcing a three and out that was punctuated by Julius Peppers with a spectacular sack on third down.

Jake Delhomme put questions to rest about his options at receiver (other than Smith) when he had Buffalo’s defensive backs spinning in both directions. Hitting four straight passes to Johnson and Colbert (twice each) before he pierced the defenses hart with a touchdown pass to Carter two plays later.

So the Panthers show their dominance on both offense and defense in each ones first drive, the offense holstered some of their weapons after that but the defense played a little longer.

Long enough anyway, to shatter any thought the Bills had of running the ball and to add some points on the board themselfs with a child’s play pick-six by Ken Lucas, to put the Panthers up by fourteen points.

The Carolina Panthers have shown they are the same team that finished the season strong in Atlanta last season, when they start the regular season in September, they could be so much better than that it would be scary to try and say....

Go Panthers!

Panthers Talk
Preseason Game 1

Bills at the Panthers

The Buffalo Bills and their fans can jump for joy later today when they face off against the Carolina Panthers in both teams preseason opener.

Why can they jump for joy you may ask? Because the 2005 season will officially be in the past and a new season will have officially started.

In 05 the Bills only managed five wins and the only winning streak they had was two wins in a row at home early in the season.

Bills fans have every right to be excited about the new season though, Takeo Spikes is coming back and he has said he’s going to be "faster & better" than ever before. Receiver Lee Evans is coming back after his first 1,000 yard season looking to be the QB’s first option this season.

Who will be the QB though? That’s their biggest question, Take your pick, Is J.P Losman gonna be able to win the starting job or will Kelly Holcomb take it away from him? Well That’s what the preseason is for, right?

It all starts for the Bills at the home of the Carolina Panthers Bank of America Stadium Saturday night around 7:30pm where gangs of Panthers fans will be chanting ~ Super Bowl Predictions ~ from the top of their lungs!

As much as the Bills should be happy, the Panthers are that times two.

The Panthers were last years preseason "whisper" to win the NFC, they came close but no cigar. A Panther team that went on a great road winning streak to end up one game short of the prize!

This season the Panthers may have the best team they ever had in their short history, with Jenkens coming back to the D-line that has added big run stuffer "Kemo" to the mix and a secondary that is now second to none, the Panthers defense could anchor the NFL as one of the best for many years to come.

The Panthers offense was good enough last year to come up one game short with only one or two play makers (depending on the game) this season that wont be the case.

With the addition of Johnson & Williams, Delhomme will have more options to move the chains and score. Both Colbert & Carter have also developed into nice below the radar targets for Jake, if Smitty & Key aren’t open.

So now that both teams and their fans are ready to explode, the countdown can begin. It’s here, it’s finally here!

The day has come and the hour will soon be upon us, we can finally answer that well known and overused question.....YES!!

We are ready for some football!

See you at the game!!

GO Panthers!!

Panthers put on festival for fans

If your anything like me and some of the fanz I know, August the 12th is just too far away for you to keep your sanity.

We have waited all summer to see our team back in action, I know I can't wait to see how Jenkens and Kemoeatu look standing side-by-side with pads on, I've been grinding my teeth with excitement over the high expectations of watching Thomas Davis devour the other teams offense from the OLB spot.

If you just can't wait until the first preseason game to see how good Smitty and Keyshawn are working together with Delhomme and Foster behind an untested O-line that very well could be our best ever.

Well don't sweat it, you don't have to!

The Carolina Panthers are having their annual "Fan Fest" on Saturday, August the 5th at Bank of America Stadium

The Catwalk & Fun Zone will open at 9am with interactive games, face painting, contests and visits from Sir Purr and The TopCats.

The Team Store also opens at 9am, so don't forget to stop by and hook yourself up with a new jersey or hat.

CAT TALK: Toughest two months in a football fans off-season

Panthers Talk

Well it’s here, the dreaded two month information drought, It’s the toughest two months in a football fans off-season, it’s the time after all the mini camps and summer programs are over, to the time where all the players have to report back for training camp, usually around mid June to August.

Your team has already went through free agency, the draft, mini camp and summer school.(all the news worthy events) Most all of the players have taken care of any personal appearances they might have had and just about everyone is gone on to there homes to be with their family and friends until it’s time for them to report back for training camp.

So when almost all the players are taking it easy at home with their families, relaxing and thinking of anything accept football. You, me and the other slightly above average football fans, are pulling out our hair and walking ruts in our floor waiting anxiously for the slightest hint of information about our favorite team.

Personally I find that talking about my favorite team in a discussion forum helps a lot, but if I didn’t have game tapes to look back on I would probably be banging my head on the wall even with the forums.

Man, I can’t wait until this time passes and August get’s here, then it’s time, time to get back to football for what every player and fan that’s not a Pittsburgh Steeler hopes will be a longer season than last years.

Now it’s time to quench my thirst a little and watch the Panthers shutout the Giants again, it never get’s old!

Good luck getting through the drought, I hope you make it to August!

Toggle this category Matt Moore heads up 53 man roster

CHARLOTTE – The Carolina Panthers entered training camp with one of theyoungest teams in the NFL.

Nothing happened to derail the youth movement Saturday, when the Panthersreduced their roster from 75 to 53 players for the start of the regular season.

A team record 10 rookies made the opening-dayroster, with nine of Carolina's 10 draft picks as well as undrafted defensivetackle Andre Neblettsurviving the cut.

The preponderance of youth meant that veterandefensive tackle Tank Tyler found himself among those waived; returningquarterback Hunter Cantwell didn't make it while rookieTony Pikedid; and young receivers like David Gettisand Charly Martinsecured roster spots while relative veteran Kenny Moore did not.

"There were quite a few players that we had to release that we would havebeen very happy to have," general manager Marty Hurney said. "We had a lot ofdifficult decisions at a lot of different positions.

"It's a good thing to have I guess, but it makes it extremely hard."

The Carolina Panthers narrow the roster down to the final 53 players.
