PFF names Panthers QB Bryce Young the best deep passer in the NFL in Week 12
According to PFF_Panthers, there was no better player in the NFL at throwing the deep ball during Week 12 than Bryce Young. The Carolina Panthers player was accurate and threw with timing to all parts of the field, including one he's shied away from in the past.Even coming out of college, Young's arm strength was not seen as a strength. It was a question whether or not he'd be able to hit the deep ball like he did in college without a "big arm," but he might have put that question to bed finally in Week 12. PFF does a good job at analyzing everything, so for example, he wasn't penalized for his perfect deep ball that Xavier Legette dropped.It was a terrific overall performance for Young, one that was almost two years in the making. To see him excel at all was once considered almost impossible, but to see him thrive in that challenging area of the field over all other QBs is inspiring.

PFF uses "unknown" formulas for their analysis. Their notes and comments are usually suspect by the rationale of the folks who actually WATCH the game.
I wonder if they counted that "perfect" deep ball to Adam Thielen as part of his #1, week 12, deep-ball throwing example.???

Uhh...(**thinking** scratching head..) -- Well, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while..
The "question" is:
(ANY pass, ANY distance, ANYwhere on the field - short, intermediate, long) -- Can you do it seven times out of ten.??
Let me answer that: Uhh...hmm, no? ... hmm... yep, NO is the correct answer. He can't do it. BY is more 'comfortable' in the 50% range. Simply NOT acceptable for a #1 pick posing as a #1 QB, especially in his second year. Any, I repeat ANY team's ranking/starting QB in the league should be mid-60% and trending upwards. And a LOT of the true high-quality QBs are pushing 70% and over.
I believe this ^^^ to be valid. Although, admittedly, I haven't researched it recently. Hmm.... maybe I'll do that.?? Uh...I don't know ... Nah...Yeah ... maybe... ¿Quien sabe?

Let me be clear Bryce IS playing better, no way he could have played any worse. I don’t want to sound like a dead horse, y’all know how I feel. And actually I hate that because he is probably the “best person” or one of them that has ever played in a Panthers uniform. Just not that guy.
High-caliber throws/plays
On a third-and-13 in the first half, Young fit a pass for a first down to Adam Thielen with a defender on his back in coverage. Great throw over the middle.
Later, he threw with great anticipation on a sideline throw to Thielen that went for 24 yards.
On an third-and-2 in the second quarter, Young placed the football beautifully over the shoulder to David Moore against tight trailing coverage for 19 yards.
On a third-and-11, catching the shotgun snap deep in his own end zone with under three minutes to play, Young bounced around defenders in the pocket before finding Xavier Legette for 31 yards downfield.
With under a minute to go, Young dropped one in the bucket to Legette on a post that should've been the go-ahead touchdown but was dropped.
Low-caliber throws/plays
He missed on a deep comeback in the first half.
Young overthrew a pass into the flat later.
After the two-minute warning in the second quarter, Young overthew Thielen on a corner route and was intercepted.
While it was covered well, there was a fourth down in the fourth quarter that was thrown at the feet of Legette.
