Next Year - Josh21 - 02-26-2020 If we have Cam the O seems ok. If he's ok. Maybe a lineman or 2 away. Can we acumulate enough d to compete? D need...everything but short n Thompson. Plenty a peices, but few starters. Fa first, then draft. 34-40 mil cap? Spend it all. Can we get a d to compete? Our o is not bad. 1st test for Rhule. Build the d, ol, n te. Probably not in 1 offseason, but let's see. I'd like 5-7 wins. Even after our losses(Luke/Olsen). I think you're looking at this through 'rosy' colored glasses, just a bit anyway. Maybe quite a bit..... You need to be honest with yourself, Josh. Cam hasn't been "OK" since 2015. He's been on a downward spiral since then. He started his career on a tear...on fire.! The league gradually caught up to him, and he had nothing extra to put in the pot. His run culminated in 2015 in the SB. BIG contract followed, then fizzle, tapering off to nothing. You can't look at this and judge by what you WANT or what your heart wants. Look at the reality. There is NO reason to believe that Cam will suddenly repair his mechanics after 10 years and start tearing up the league again. There is NO reason to believe that Cam will start running wild again like he did as a rookie...only ten years later and ten years slower. Cam never had a good grasp of fundamentals...you know that. It's a lot to ask for him to rebuild his QB "base" after all this time and retrain himself into a Top 10 "thinking man's quarterback". Cam has ALWAYS had accuracy problems. He can't hit the broad side of a barn..... from the INSIDE WITH THE DOORS CLOSED..!!! Well, maybe the roof.!! Cam probably has a couple more "okay" seasons left. IF he can stay healthy..... His time leading the league, being the "force", commanding respect, inspiring fear in defenses...... is over. It's too late. He needed to make the changes five years ago. Sure, Cam is better than probably 50% of the QBs in the league (IF he's healthy..), BUT he's not a Top 10 QB any more, and he's lost his edge and his speed. What else does he have..??? Really..?? If we sign him to another huge contract for multiple years..... we are going to regret it forever. Cam is Cam. He's a GQ guy that loves the limelight. He wants to be "on display'. He needs to be the 'talk of the town'. He needs to stroll around lighting stogies with $50 dollar bills. That's Cam, thoroughly entrenched in the 'good life'. The Panthers have a significant rebuild coming. Yes, we have some of the pieces. But the heart of this team is gone. What this team needs is a visionary coach. And a visionary front office. Oh, and a new heart. RE: Next Year - Josh21 - 02-26-2020 Rose colored glasses, yes. Cam throwing 120 passes to CMC n 200 to cs/dj? Hasn't happened yet. Top 15 or no @ qb, those three could do well with anyone giving them that many targets. Give em a motivated Cam. Let's see what happens. D is a different story... RE: Next Year - Josh21 - 02-27-2020 Cam had Smitty. Not much else. KB n funchess. Let him throw to CMC, cs, n dj. Not expecting 16-0. Hoping 5-11 or better. Cam hasn't had a full season throwing flats to CMC for 5-7 yards 90% of the time. That's a barn he should hit without an extension. Beyond this season gets complicated. Beleive me the D's a mess, but the o's not terrible. |
