The Cardinals just cut DeAndre Hopkins, he has been linked to Carolina throughout the off-season as a potential trade partner. We have a ton of camp space this year, would it be really that unheard of to see him in Carolina? I’d love to see it, but like everything else in the silly season, at what cost?

Interesting...

If he was "CUT" in the traditional sense, the Cards would be responsible for everything on his contract. That would mean that he could be signed and nothing would be "owed" to the Cardinals. He would be free to negotiate a new contract with nothing hanging over the new team.

At least that is my understanding.

What would he be worth..... to the Panthers, I mean.??

Well, considering he still capable of being a top-five receiver in the league, it would be worth a lot. I know there would be no compensation to the Cardinals, because he was actually cut, it would be what would it cost us to sign him.

According to Matt Verderame (SI) …. The Cards have been “shopping” Hopkins since before the draft. There were one or two teams interested (supposedly) but couldn’t make contract numbers work with Hopkins. His release was (again — “supposedly”) a foregone conclusion because he would have cost the Cardinals ~~ $30 Million this year. !!! That is a stratospheric number for a WR.

It’s creeping that way. The top WR in the league make in the ballpark of 25m a year. His contract was because of how they wrote it.

No thanks. Still a year out. Build this year. Chase the playoffs. Like last year, but better. Hope the coaching n players add up. Lots of hope. Go guys!

He also gets to pick where he goes. Look for him to land w a top qb/organization.
