Panthers reportedly hoping to retain DC Ejiro Evero (msn.com)
With Dave Canales now installed as their new head coach, the Carolina Panthers are about to experience quite a bit of change. But that change may not ultimately come for defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.
On Sunday, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported that the Panthers are hoping to retain Evero—who continues to draw outside interest from a handful of different organizations.
"My understanding is—multiple teams, the Giants and the Dolphins, have put in interview requests for Evero," Pelissero said this afternoon. "To this point, the Panthers have blocked those requests. It's unclear whether Evero wants to stay in Carolina, but he is under contract. The sides are expected to meet this week."
The Panthers also reportedly blocked the Jacksonville Jaguars from speaking with Evero a few weeks back. Per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams may attempt to poach the popular 43-year-old play-caller as well.
Evero, additionally, is still in the discussion for the Seattle Seahawks' head-coaching vacancy. He had his second interview with the team this weekend.
