Well, at least someone thinks the Panthers did a good job with the Draft.

2025 NFL Draft Grades for Every Team
Story by Andrew Erickson • 1h • 39 min read
Carolina Panthers: A-
Tetairoa McMillan (WR – CAR): Round 1 Pick 8
Nic Scourton (DE – CAR): Round 2 Pick 51
Princely Umanmielen (DE – CAR): Round 3 Pick 77
Trevor Etienne (RB – CAR): Round 4 Pick 114
Lathan Ransom (S – CAR): Round 4 Pick 122
Cam Jackson (DL – CAR): Round 5 Pick 140
Mitchell Evans (TE – CAR): Round 5 Pick 163
Jimmy Horn (WR – CAR): Round 6 Pick 208
Instead of going on the defensive side with the 8th overall pick, like many mock drafters (guilty as charged) predicted, Dave Canales got his version of Mike Evans for the Panthers.
I love the T-Mac selection to help put more around quarterback Bryce Young.
Carolina then went aggressive on defense on Day 2. The Panthers moved up six slots to 51 overall select edge rusher Nic Scourton.
They also moved up eight spots by trading a 5th-round pick to select Princely Umanmielen.
I love these two moves from a value perspective, given that Carolina didn’t give up an absurd amount. Mostly Day 3 picks and a combination of pick swaps.
And given the massive need for defensive help, I couldn’t agree more with the double-dipping in the edge rusher pool.
The Panthers followed up a strong opening to the draft with a great finish on Day 3. They addressed holes on the roster at WR, TE, DT and S.

You're welcome, and thank you for sharing those as well. I don't think that, overall, there will be as much doom-and-gloom as what some are feeling. It's understandable that they feel that way due to our past several seasons. But, think of the "GOOD" players we got in the past who didn't really pan out. I think there is some really good value in this draft.
AP (Associated Press) Draft Grades 2025
Quote:CAROLINA PANTHERS: B
WR Tetairoa McMillan (8) went earlier than expected for a guy with some question marks who’s loaded with talent. Edges Nic Scourton (51) and Princely Umanmielen (77) are excellent value picks and should make an immediate impact on a defense that needs pass rushers. RB Trevor Ettiene (114) can make plays. TE Mitchell Evans (163) is a nice addition. S Lathan Ransom (122) and DL Cam Jackson (140) deepen the defensive depth.

I still think McMillon was the best receiver in the Draft, and if the Panthers really wanted him, and apparently they did because they didn't bite on any trades, I guess we'll have to trust them.
PFF gives the Panthers, Cardinals, and Cowboys the highest grades in the draft at A+

Carolina Panthers: A+
1 (8): WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona
McMillan — The Panthers continue to build around Bryce Young, who led the NFL in big-time throws from Week 8 through the end of the regular season. Now, he has another downfield target. McMillan has been one of the most productive receivers in college football over the past two seasons, ranking in the 85th percentile or better among qualifying NCAA wideouts in receiving grade versus single coverage, yards per route run and contested-catch rate.
2 (51): ED Nic Scourton, Texas A&M
Scourton — The Panthers trade up the board for an opportunity to add much-needed firepower on the defensive side of the ball. Scourton, the 29th-ranked player on the PFF Big Board, has an alluring combination of size and pass-rush moves, as well as the versatility to play in 3-4 or 4-3 fronts. Over the past two seasons, his 91.7 PFF pass-rush grade against true pass sets charted in the 94th percentile.
3 (77): ED Princely Umanmielen, Ole Miss
Umanmielen — The Panthers moved up to target some pass-rush help with the selection of Umanmielen. The Ole Miss product was the No. 50 overall player on the PFF Big Board, and his 91.1 PFF grade ranked sixth among players at the position in 2024.
4 (114): RB Trevor Etienne, Georgia
Etienne — At 5-foot-9 and 205 pounds, Trevor Etienne, brother of Jaguars running back Travis Etienne, is stoutly built and it showed on tape, as he forced 30 missed tackles on 126 rushing attempts. Despite missing time throughout various points of the season, Etienne still managed to rush for nine touchdowns while putting the ball on the ground only once. With Chuba Hubbard’s emergence this past season, Etienne provides Carolina with a power back who can spell him in short-yardage situations.
4 (122): S Lathan Ransom, Ohio State
Ransom — Carolina continues to address areas of need on their defense by selecting Ransom after already adding a couple of edge defenders in previous rounds. The Panthers ranked 31st last season in explosive pass percentage allowed at 17.6% overall and now add to their secondary.
5 (140): DI Cam'Ron Jackson, Florida
Jackson — Ranked No. 130 on the PFF Big Board, Jackson is a massive presence who can control the point of attack against the run. He posted an 80.9 run-defense grade last season along with a 9.3% run-stop rate.
5 (163): TE Mitchell Evans, Notre Dame
Evans — Evans dominated defenders with the ball in the air in 2024, posting an impressive 72.7% contested-catch rate.
6 (208): WR Jimmy Horn Jr., Colorado
Horn — Horn earned a 65.1 receiving grade last season while averaging 11.9 yards per reception.
I don't know where to bring this up.. but this'll do probabaly.
Many say the Mike Linebacker on a team is basicly the QB on defense.
Do you think we did enough at linebacker ( Christian Rozeboom from the Rams ) to be better this coming season ?
We were bad most of last season at linebacker. At times J Jewel and Wonnum had good moments. But we were awful against the run.
When they were better it was near the end of the season , when we were actually competitive ..

Hmm...
Not sure if you're talking about LB (as in ILB) OR OLB (as in EDGE).??? Our OLB guys (EDGE) were pretty sad last year and were the "main" point of emphasis. That is where DJ Wonnum lives. Josey Jewell is ILB. Different animal of course. Our ILBs were not terrible. They were often put in a bad situation because our Defensive front was SO bad, especially after Derrick Brown was injured. Without a strong D-Line, the ILBs cannot function at a high level. The front end D-Line stops the first line of attack AND keeps the ILBs "clean". If they stay clean and/or get off of the blocks, then they are pretty effective. In general, I think our ILBs were pretty much OK. Our OLBs were abysmal as was our D-Line.
I think we did a LOT for our OLBs - EDGE guys. They should be much improved. Our ILBs could be a question.... We have Jewel and Trevin Wallace who were both satisfactory last year (when they were CLEAN..). In addition we have Jon Rhattigan who played fairly well, and Claudin Cherelus as well. Then add in Rozeboom and the new Draftee/UDFA guys (one or two - depending on who you listen to..). I would have preferred to get another ILB earlier in the draft, but...... In addition, our new draftee Strong Safety, Lathan Ransom, SHOULD support the ILBs against the run. So should be better.....
So, I guess the short answer would be, ... "it depends". If our interior D-Line can hold up we'll be a LOT better, AND our ILBs will EAT. If the D-Line struggles .... all bets are off. The OLBs - EDGE guys should be much improved.
At least, ... That's the view from here.

Plus...I still expect Wallace to be improved in year 2.
