Matt Corral (under rookie contract) and Jacob Eason (Signed to futures contract today) are the only quarterbacks under contract with the Panthers as of today.

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers now have more than one quarterback on the roster.

The team signed quarterback Jacob Eason to a reserve/future deal on Tuesday.

Eason spent some time on the practice squad last year and appeared in the Rams game. He completed 3-of-5 passes for 59 yards and an interception, finishing up that game for PJ Walker.

He was released in November when Sam Darnold returned from injured reserve, and spent some time on the 49ers practice squad.

The only other quarterback under contract at the moment is Matt Corral. Darnold will be an unrestricted free agent, and Walker will be a restricted free agent.

The 2023 new league year starts on March 15th at 4:00 PM. Until then, current contracts are still in place. Darnold could very easily still be signed to a new contract. There is plenty of time.  After the new league year starts, all bets are off. Darnold will THEN be an Unrestricted FA...... and will most likely sign somewhere.

I believe (IMHO..) that we need a veteran QB to ease any "new" QB into our locker room. This would be especially important if we drafted another QB, especially high in the draft. I can't see the Panthers going into the season with TWO rookie, unproven, unknown QBs with no veteran help.  Doesn't make sense to me...???

Got a few vet options. I wanna see our next few moves.

I say offer PJ a contract. That’s 3 n a start. Draft, fa, gives us 3 shots - Eason, though I like him doubt it. Draft or fa will produce the front runner. Picking n choosing has to be done right. Don’t leave it up to Reich.

Rivers, Ryan, Wentz (was that his choice?).

I wholeheartedly agree about having a veteran presence here for the new quarterback(s).  But I'm not sure if it will be Sam Darnold.  I honestly wouldn't hate it if it was him, though.  The good thing is that over the past twenty-four hours, I've heard Frank Reich referred to as the quarterback whisperer.  And that's a good thing.  Not that he, himself, will be doing the grooming, but that he knows how to make sure all the pieces are in place to ensure all of our quarterbacks are in the best position possible going into the season.
