The Carolina Panthers have signed former UFL standout Wideout Daewood Davis to their roster.   This guy stands a good chance at making the final roster.

After nearly a fortnight of speculation and negotiation, the Carolina Panthers have cemented their receiving corps by officially inking wide receiver Daewood Davis. The journeyman receiver’s acquisition was officially announced by the team on Tuesday, marking a significant add to their roster for the upcoming season.

The 25-year-old Davis, originally hailing from Broward County, Florida, brought his talents to the United Football League’s Memphis Showboats for their 2024 season. His impressive performance with the Showboats showcased his skills and made him a sought-after free agent in the NFL market.

Davis embarked on his collegiate football journey at the University of Oregon before transferring to Western Kentucky University, where he truly made a mark. Across the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Hilltoppers, Davis was a standout, accumulating 106 catches for a towering 1,625 yards and finding the end zone 15 times.

Despite his collegiate success, Davis went undrafted in 2023 but was promptly picked up by the Miami Dolphins. Unfortunately, his time with the Dolphins was cut short due to an injury, leading to his release from the team following an injury settlement in August of that year.

Nevertheless, Davis did not let this setback deter his aspirations. He surged back onto the football scene with the Memphis Showboats.

During his stint in the UFL, Davis excelled, tallying 446 receiving yards — the seventh highest in the league — and securing five touchdowns, which propelled him to the second-most receiving touchdowns in the league. His remarkable performance didn’t go unnoticed as he earned himself a place on the inaugural All-UFL Team.

The addition of the 6-foot-2, 195-pound Davis to the Panthers’ lineup is a strategic move, bolstering their receiver options as the team’s roster now reaches its capacity at 90 players. This signing adds depth and talent to the Panthers, offering them a versatile offensive weapon for their upcoming campaigns.

Yup. Need more production, add people with skill. Like it.

See who wins during camp. Cautiously optimistic
