WEEK 7 INJURY REPORT - WEDNESDAY -----> FRIDAY

The Panthers look about the same this week as they did last week... Which is to say that they have 12 players listed on the report on Wednesday. One of them, C McCaffrey, is a 'vet rest' day so he doesn't really count. So not counting McCaffrey there are 11 players listed. Of the 11, 4 are shown as DNP and 7 are 'L' (Limited..).

There are a couple of noteworthy names here. Pat Elflein has not missed a snap yet on the O-Line. If he doesn't make it, he will be the first O-Lineman to miss anything. Matt Ioannidis has been extremely solid on the D-Line as has Henry Anderson in a rotational role.  The Panthers will welcome Shenault and Luvu back for sure.

THURSDAY REVIEW...

There are a few changes today (as expected..) from the Wednesday report.

First, Baker Mayfield has been upgraded from DNP to L (Limited..). He has been running some and is now throwing a little while taking some snaps. The latest word however, has PJ Walker as the starting QB this week, backed up by Jacob Eason (like last week..).  Also, Sam Darnold has returned from IR and now has 21 days before something has to happen.
Ioannidis was DOWNgraded today after his neck injury last week. Apparently he wasn't progressing as he should and is now being evaluated for a concussion.  Losing Ioannidis on the D-Line will hurt for certain.
Elflein remains as DNP. If he can't make it, he will be the first casualty on the O-Line this year. He would be replaced by Bradley Bozeman who was in fact the #1 option at Center before he was injured in pre-season.
With CJ Henderson improving, our DBs are looking a little better as long as Littleton, Chandler, Horn, Luvu, etc. continue to make gains and can play this week.
And of course, fingers crossed for Taylor Moton. He has not missed a snap over the past four years. One of only five NFL players to play every snap for four consecutive years. He has also played every game since being drafted, and STARTED every game since 2018.  His absence would really hurt.

FRIDAY UPDATE.....

OKAY.... So this week we have both Matt Ioannidis and CJ Henderson in the Concussion Protocol. Henderson was 'Full Practice' Friday so he will probably be cleared. Ioannidis however, is listed as "Doubtful". Ioannidis has been a stalwart lynchpin of the D-Line every game. Replacing him this week will not be easy.
In addition to Ioannidis, the Panthers have QB Baker Mayfield hobbled with a bad ankle sprain. He has done some limited work the last couple of days, but is listed as "Doubtful" for the game. PJ Walker is expected to start at QB again this week. Backup Jacob Eason from the Practice Squad is expected to be the #2 behind Walker.
Pat Elflein has been the starting Center on the Panthers O-Line this year. He has been "DNP" all week and is listed as "Questionable" for the game. If Elflein should be unable to go, he would be replaced by Bradley Bozeman who was the odds-on favorite for the position before he was hurt in the pre-season. This would be the first O-Line guy to fall out of the rotation so far this year.
Taylor Moton showed up midweek on the Injury Report. He apparently has an injured knee. It's unclear if it happened last week in the game or this week in practice. He is listed as "Questionable" for the game. Moton would be really missed if he can't go.

SATURDAY UPDATE...

Just announced..... Center Pat Elflein has been downgraded and will not play this week and for several more weeks as well. Elflein has not practiced at all this week because of a "hip' injury of some sort. He has been placed on IR.  Bradley Bozeman will take over at Center.
