There is nothing really surprising here, but it's now official.

Andre Roberts who has been on IR since the 1st regular season game because of a knee injury was "Designated To Return" by the Panthers last week. Once the "Designation" has been made, the team has 21 days to practice the player and decide if they want to "activate". If activated, the player takes a spot on the 53 roster. If NOT activated, the player stays on IR for the balance of the season.  Roberts has been a premier 'return man' for his entire career. Roberts is a three time All-Pro with over 8,500 Return Yards. Roberts will take up one spot on the 53. There is still one spot remaining open.

Josh Norman has been activated for the Bucs game as well. Norman has been "elevated" from the Practice Squad as a "Standard Elevation". This means he does NOT take a roster spot on the 53 at this point. A player can be "elevated" three times. On the third elevation the player must be signed to the 53. If they are then sent back to the PS, they must first go through the "waiver" protocol.  I suspect that Norman will remain on the official PS roster for now. This allows the Panthers to hold on to the one remaining spot on the 53 roster in case they need to add someone next week or ...  "after..??".

But then, .... What do I know..??
