They really should, and I believe they probably would have had he played another couple of years.  I would think it rare that a player's jersey gets retired after playing only eight seasons, no matter how good he was. I could be wrong, and I hope I am. 

We are going to miss Luke badly for a long, long time I'm afraid.

Absolutely should...however, I feel if he goes on to coach somewhere else it will not be the case for quite some time. I'm of course hoping it will be here.

Agreed...  I saw a video where Rhule was talking with him after his announcement.  Rhule told him (several times..) that he wanted him to consider coming back... Kuechly said OK, or words to that effect. I really hope he does it.  It would make a tremendous difference to the team and to the fan base...
