QB's

There’s half the season left, so there’s some time yet before it happens. But the question is: Considering his first three years have been less than superlative, and way less than expected …. Will the Panthers pick up BYs fifth year option?? Has to happen after this season. No more waiting, no more excuses.

I am not sure….. I’m leaning toward probably yes, but who knows…???

Five games ago I'd have said no. Today, yes.

We've all been on and off the Bryce band wagon since he got here. He was drafted to a very bad team, bad coaches. Have I seen some good plays out of him, yes. But I truly believe he doesn't have enough talent around him to make him look great. I do not think he has the pizazz to take over a game. He's had some nice game winning drive the last two years, but not enough to show me he's it. Nor have a seen where he can take over a game from the beginning to run away from another team.
The team is getting better for sure.

Before they say no to the 5th year option they better have a plan to replace him .

I like him. He appears to be a good person etc.. then there's the BUT.. We've ALL wanted him benched,, cut our losses, draft somebody else , fans during his career.

If we only had a QB this team maybe could contend for the playoffs.

So many point to that last “drive”… Young was 2 of 4 for 19 while yards. Rico had that much on one run. 11 for 20 with a whopping 103 yards and an int.

Bottom line if we can run the ball 25-30 times 150 yards win or push the turnover battle we should be in games with an opportunity to win. Stop our run game and it is hopeless. BY, if he gets success, is because of a strong run game and play action.

But Bryce is still a nice young man and I wish him well but we need a QB desperately.

You know, that's a pretty clear and succinct explanation. And I'm pretty much in agreement with it. We aren't winning because of Bryce. All he's doing is handle the ball and pass on the play calls. He's a "game manager" and nothing more. Now, he DOES have some decent spots, things, characteristics. He CAN escape pressure pretty well, and he's a nice guy. But, if we HAD to rely on him to win a ballgame, we'd most likely lose. OTOH -- There are precious few QBs in this league capable of putting a team on their back and carrying the load.  I'd say maybe 5-7 total. So for us to compare BY to those guys is a fool's errand. We'll have to be satisfied with whatever we can get and continue to HOPE to find a real difference maker...... Because BY is not it...

Just think....this team had both Darnold and Baker.  That tell you how bad the coaching was.  Could you imagine if we had either one of them now?

Yeah ... I don't want to think about it. I said from day one with Darnold, that I liked what he had to offer. Mayfield I was not so much in love with.  Both of them had to settle in and find their comfort zone (team). Darnold especially has a big arm. He showed a lot of courage here and took a lot of physical abuse on the field. We couldn't "fit" him into the offensive mindset.... So yes, it was obviously a 'coaching' thing.

Of course, the NFL is full of "what if" players. Maybe we'll get one too..??  Don't know who it would be though...

BTW -- ICYMI..... I just heard that the Panthers have released Hendon Hooker.

I saw an article this morning linking the Panthers to a possible hookup with Kyler Murray. Not sure I care for that match-up, either.

I agree 007 but he would be a tremendous upgrade at QB. Has a hard time staying healthy though.

Besides injury....2 HC's have not been able to get that much put of him.  No thanks.
