With Panthers punter Lachlan Edwards hanging out there as a FA, what is going to happen now.?? I know, I know..... Most of you guys don't value a K or P at all. UNTIL, we really need one. And then you complain, complain, complain because of a missed kick or a shanked punt. These guys really anchor your Special Teams. We S T R U G G L E D last year with our Kicker and Punter. Until we managed to find Zane Gonzalez and Lachlan Edwards. Well...... we re-signed Gonzalez so THAT is taken care of.
That leaves our punter to worry about. I like Lachlan Edwards..... But if he should wander off to another team...
ENTER, Johnny Hekker (maybe..???). Recent indications show the Panthers as expressing some interest in Hekker. Hekker has spent his entire career with the Rams and has been a VERY effective Punter. In addition, he CAN throw the ball and has been effective with "surprise" or "fake" kicks. He's 32 y.o. and he's now a Free Agent.
