Huh..??  Barlay.??  Isn't that a cereal grain, like wheat or oatmeal.?? I know my Grandpappy used to talk about 'John Barleycorn' like it was something special, something liberating, right before he disappeared for an hour or so to the ol' woodshed. He would return all mellow, with a full tummy. I assumed he went and scarfed down some barlay and corn ... And "pick"..?? I know a pick is used to dig a ditch or a hole in hard, rocky soil --- or sometimes to remove a recalcitrant booger from your nose.  But.... What does all this have to do with football.?? 'Splain me..!!
