Re: #Panthers DL movement/Shy Tuttle’s future.
Carolina valued him on team and wanted to keep him.
Tuttle was set to make $6.5m in last year of his deal. He’s taken a pay cut to $3m, per league source. $500k in guaranteed money.
He can make the rest back w/ incentives.
I still think he has work to do to make the 53.
Tres Interresant....
With the two new interior linemen we picked up today (maybe, probably -- hopefully..??), Shy Tuttle will just be a rotational piece. I think he will do OK like that. He was being asked to do too much. He wasn't equipped to take on four-down play and play 75% of the D-snaps. Some guys can do it. Tuttle wasn't one of them. That's why he failed. He's a rotational piece (IMHO..). I think he will do OK as a backup and will provide some security in the event of injury. -- All of this^^ is said with a bit of a grimace and fingers crossed.
I also believe we will add at least one more D-Lineman in the Draft (plus EDGE guy or two..). So, Shy Tuttle WILL have to perform to make the 53. I THINK he'll make it. But I've been wrong lots of times.... so there's that...
