Redshirt Senior is a strange term. It's actually fairly common in practice, but not by that name. The term "redshirt" is almost always applied to freshmen and sophomore players. Once past that point they are usually referred to as '4th year' or '5th year'....as in "5th year senior". By NCAA rules, players only have 4 years of eligibility. If they need longer than that to complete their academic program, they can "redshirt" a year to lengthen their football eligibility to align with their academic program. (There are lots of rules involved..). By the time they are in their last year before graduation, they are usually referred to as a 5th year senior. Still only have 4 years of eligibility, just spread over 5 years. Sometimes (usually) they opt out their freshman year. They are allowed to practice with the team and play a limited amount (seems like maybe 3 games..??).......
Anyway, doesn't matter. A redshirt in their senior year would normally be called a 5th year senior. Don't know what if anything is different about Orr...
