According to Garrett Podell at CBS Sports, the Panthers currently have the ninth-worst quarterback unit in the league.
Of course just one writers opinion. I personally believe we have made good moves, way overpaid for one, had a decent draft and then I remember, we have Bryce Young, all five foot 9 inches, 165 pounds at QB and my hope slides backwards.
Oh come on, bro! He's at LEAST 170 lbs lol
LOLOL ...
The "truth is stranger than fiction". Oh yeah... I remember the truth before he was drafted. He was 'measured' before the draft and the numbers hovered between 5'9" & 5'10". He played at Alabama around 175-180. I heard him say it. No reporter picked up on it at the time, so it went largely unreported. At the combine he pushed fluids before the weigh-in -- LOTS of fluids. He supposedly got his pre-weigh-in weight up around 200. I don't believe it for a minute. He hasn't put on any visible muscle, so he can't possibly weigh weigh more than a buck eighty as a "playing" weight. So.... 5'9" - 5'10" about 180. That's what he actually plays at...BY is one of the smallest players in the league, and definitely way outside the "norm" for NFL QBs. As of right now -- There are a couple of QBs in the league around that size. Other than BY, Kyler Murray is about 5'10, and the new guy, UDFA Diego Pavia measured 5'9 7/8". Historically, there have been two or three QBs "smaller' than this around 5'7" or so - dating back to the 1920 - 1930 era. May have been one as short as 5'5" - there are few records that document actual size. Diego Pavia is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of how "stats" can be manipulated. While at college his size was "listed" as much as 6'0" - which was a complete fabrication. He also went UNDRAFTED this year.
So -- There is precedent for a QB as short as BY, but very VERY few. If BY should ever get ranked as high as Kyler Murray, I would consider that a win. Just don't think it's gonna happen.
